stuff that goes on in my life...

Are you interested in astronomy?

The month from hell is over! Exam yesterday in electromagnetic field theory, so November has been a tough month with 3 exams, 1 mini exam, selling off my stuff and moving to my mom's place. I can hardly believe that I've survived! December is going to be stressful, but not as stressful: Master thesis, master thesis and master thesis.

Three weeks ago my mom had a surgery. Her entire knee was replaced with titan-metal things and she is now walking around with crutches. So guess who is doing all the job at home at the same time as being at school 10-12 hours a day: Me! I'm gonna kill myself after this... no, wait that's just stupid! If I should do it I should do it before all the work, not after. :) Hehe, no my friends I'm not gonna kill myself. My mom is gonna do it for me... :D Mom wants to gather the family at her place during X-mas, and guess who is going to have to work even harder for that to happen: Me again, tihi! Clean the appartment in those 1-2 hours I have left after studying every day, buy all the X-mas food and bring it home. Gaaah! As so many times before: Keep the sprit up, Åsa. Keep the spirit up!

Oh, btw. I got a text this weekend from an unknown number. It said "I'm reading your blog and I have an unknown key. Yours?" but it didn't say who it was from. A wild guess would be my ex-boyfriend. I didn't have any cash on my cell phone so I couldn't reply so I'm replying here instead: My sis had my key and the keys are now returned to the landlord. But thanx for trying to help me!

That's it for me!

Astronomers need your help!

Help astronomers to classify galaxies! There are so many galaxies out there so astronomers can't classify them all and the human eyes see these kind of patterns better than computers. Therefore we need your help! Visit, GalaxyZoo and register to start classify galaxies. It's not the most fun thing you can do, but it's useful and data has already been used in science using this method. So if you want to contribute, do this when you don't have other stuff to do!

About Uppsala University

Uppsala University (Swedish: Uppsala Universitet) is a research university in Uppsala, Sweden. Founded as early as 1477, it is the oldest such institution in the Nordic countries, and for centuries has been one of Europe's most renowned seats of learning.

One of the main centres of higher education in Europe, the university rose to pronounced significance during the rise of Sweden as a Great Power at the end of the 16th century and was then given a relative financial stability with the large donation of King Gustavus Adolphus in the early 17th century. Uppsala also has an important historical place in Swedish national culture, identity and for the Swedish establishment: in historiography, literature, politics, and music. Many aspects of Swedish academic culture in general, such as the white student cap, originated in Uppsala. It shares some peculiarities, such as the student nation system, with Lund University and the University of Helsinki.

Uppsala belongs to the Coimbra Group of European universities. The university has nine faculties distributed over three 'disciplinary domains'. It has about 40,000 students (20 000 full-time eq.), and about 2,000 doctoral students. It has a teaching staff of 4,000 (part-time and full-time) out of a total of 6,000 employees. Of its annual turnover of around 4.3 billion SEK (approx. 715 million USD), approximately 60% goes to graduate studies and research.

Architecturally, Uppsala University has traditionally had a strong presence in the area around the cathedral on the western side of the River Fyris. Despite some more contemporary building developments further away from the centre, Uppsala's historic centre continues to be dominated by the presence of the university.
